Unending unemployment benefits

The Washington Post has a story today about the ever expanding state of unemployment benefits. Most would say 99 weeks (nearly 2 years) is probably a little too much time to be dependent on government, but apparently Congress doesn’t think so! The statistics are astounding – $10 billion a month goes to keeping America’s unemployed afloat. Read the rest of the story HERE.

What Are Your Kids Learning?

Years ago, there was an announcement before the local newscasts: “Parents, it’s 10 o’clock. Do you know where you children are?” In fact, there’s a station in New York that still does it.

That question or maybe a somewhat-modified version is even more relevant today: “Parents, it’s 2010. Do you know what your children are learning?”

You should. There is a concerted effort to indoctrinate your children with progressive propaganda, going on right now. It’s everywhere: the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, with the global warming agenda. And many of our nation’s schools are hitting our kids with the full progressive assault.

Thursday, the “The National Day of Action to Defend Education” took place. It sounds innocent enough. The rally Web site says the event was to protest against the current assault on public education: tuition hikes, budget cuts, furlough days, intentional reduction in enrollment.

So if it’s really just about education and protecting the kids, why did virtually every socialist and communist organization in existence support this event? Groups like Students for a Democratic Society, the Socialist Party USA, several progressive student alliances and something called Fight Imperialism — Stand Together among many more. For a school function?

A faction of La Raza — a Latino civil rights organization — is jumping onboard and they are apparently trying to turn this into an “education is a right” message and use this platform for allowing illegal aliens to use in-state tuition as their protest message. M.E.Ch.A is also involved — they’re a radical group who wants to reclaim the Southwestern U.S. for Mexico.

What’s going on? Well, there’s a battle for the hearts and minds of your children. While you’re busy trying to make a living and navigate through the daily madness piling up all around you, progressives are working on indoctrinating America’s youth, your kids. Everything is about planet worship, social justice and supporting Barack Obama. Just look what’s happening in our schools:

It’s not enough to simply indoctrinate them with the progressive agenda, they’re also being told that they know more than you, their parents. We’ve shown you that progressives like Al Gore have pitted children against their parents. This is Gore telling thousands of teens and preteens at an inaugural youth conference in Washington last year not to listen to their parents:

I’m sure those parents appreciated Al telling their impressionable kids that they know more about life than they do. Maybe they appreciate Meghan McCain saying this:

Maybe Meghan attended some of those child-empowerment camps. She seems to think that her wisdom — at 24 — exceeds the knowledge and wisdom of the feeble old coots, who like… at like… 40 or 50…are so, like… stupid:

MCCAIN: And I have taken heat, but in fairness to me, I am a different generation than the people that are giving me heat. I’m 24 years old. I’m not in my 40s, I’m not in my 50s and older.

And Obama’s own Web site, during the campaign, featured a video called “The Talk,” in which kids had “the talk” about Obama and political issues with their parents:

Encouraging kids — some on that video couldn’t have been any more than 14 — to presume that they have more knowledge, wisdom, experience and political savvy than their parents do is absolutely despicable. I mean, think back to what you thought you knew at 14 or even 24 and what you now know. Even if you had an IQ of 500 when you were a teen, the maturity, reason and logic that comes with age and experiencing life just isn’t there.

And Obama knows that. If he can convince them, before they have the chance to develop their senses, he has a chance to “change” the mindset of this nation. And that’s exactly what he and his allies are trying to do.

An Obama supporter — let’s call him Eric — has written a book — let’s call it “Eric’s Book.” Now, keep in mind, it’s a book that sold about eight copies, but the point is this is part of an overall agenda. The book and video are propaganda pieces that would make Joseph Goebbels proud. The video is dedicated to twisting the youth of America into progressive zombies:

This is his “Generation We,” born between 1978 and 2000. He is aggressively trying to mold those 95 million young people into a massive, collective, progressive voting block that would fundamentally transform, America:

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We’re more ethnically diverse.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We’re more technologically adept.

UNIDENTIFIED BOY: And we’re the first generation in American history…

UNIDENTIFIED GIRL: To inherit a nation…

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: In decline.

Wow. More globally oriented? Right, stop with your patriotic nonsense, we’re building global citizens — there’s no need for U.S. sovereignty. That’s for like… old people who are maybe, like… forty? Remember this guy’s a clown and is having minimal impact. But it’s a pattern. This message is found throughout the progressive movement — that your children are “better educated,” they’re smarter than you. You can’t begin to understand the things they do. You’re not capable.

I was also moved by the “less politically partisan” line there, when absolutely every line in this abomination is partisan, leftist, progressive propaganda. But, let’s find out why they’re the only generation to inherit a nation in decline:

First of all, I hate to see anyone “lose their home,” but could there be a reason for it? Maybe your uneducated, dad just isn’t smart enough to hold down a job? I mean, he’s probably older than twenty-five.

Then, there’s the environmental hogwash. I don’t know about you, but I can’t get enough of this discredited hoax. “Our water is contaminated”? Really?

It’s a shame that “Generation We” is too young to remember Lake Erie on fire. Now that’s contamination — water so polluted, it bursts into flame. And, before you start sending out your Tweets, I know, it was technically the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland that spontaneously combusted — so sue me.

The point is our lakes, rivers, streams and virtually all waterways are much cleaner now than they were 20, 30 or 40 years ago. Our standards are higher, as is awareness, so companies can’t just dump waste into water supplies anymore… unless you’re doing business in China. We do nearly everything cleaner now than ever.

As a parent, it’s really shocking the way this uses our children, some of these kids are 10 years old. But it’s important to know about this attempt at brainwashing your children.

Harry Reid on 36,000 jobs lost: it’s a good day

Harry Reid is upping the idiocy ante today, as he giddily reports that it’s a good day in America because ‘only’ 36,000 people lost their jobs last month. Well, sounds like it’s time for a parade! The unemployment rate remained the same at 9.7%, but 36,000 more jobs were lost. Healthcare watch: still ramming it through
Obama’s healthcare reform will cause trouble no matter if it’s passed or not. Glenn warns that if it is passed, that puts the structure in place for progressives to control every aspect of your life. They’ll regulate guns, carbon and anything else in the name of healthcare. But if it doesn’t pass, the radical leftists will be angry and if the education protests of today are any indication, there could be violent outbursts. Glenn talks healthcare on radio today. And the biggest reason for any punishment is revealed in this article with the line “Rangel’s decision cheered Democrats who feared political fallout affecting their own futures”. They only care about saving their butts.

The surefire way for any scientists to immediately have their work published all across America is to make sure the results show proof that conservatives are idiots. Like a fly buzzing in front of a hungry frog, a study that says liberals are smarter than conservatives was too tempting for the press to pass up. White House braces for job #’s

You know the trends are not looking good for job numbers when this is the statement coming from the White House: “The blizzards that affected much of the country during the last month are likely to distort the statistics. So it’s going to be very important … to look past whatever the next figures are to gauge the underlying trends.” Oh, so that’s how the economy works. Snow = jobs loss? Never heard that before, but ignore that little fib. There’s a more incredible request in this statement: simply “look past whatever the next figures are”. Oh, is that all? Harry Reid came out this week, desperate to get his brand new ‘jobs’ bill through Congress. As if putting the word ‘jobs’ in there will magically solve everything. Since the overwhelming evidence (the last ‘jobs’ bill) shows this won’t work, Reid has gone another direction – he says the new bill better pass, or else women will start getting beat. America breathed a collective sigh of relief this week as former Vice President Al Gore was found safe as a polar bear on ice, turning up in the New York Times where he was writing in response to the mounting fabricated data coming from the alarmist community. Van Jones finally came out of hiding and is now on a nationwide image repair tour, and while speaking at the NAACP Image Awards Jones had a few things to say to Glenn. There is a lot of audio of Jones because the media is happy to give this communist a microphone, and that’s great because in America free speech is allowed. Progressives popped up in the early 19th century. Instead of being ashamed of her intellectual dishonesty, she went full steam ahead and actually played the entire video blog on her show, claiming Glenn is hiding the ‘evidence’ he thinks one snowstorm disproves global warming. The New York Times has come out today with a 12 page – yes, a 12 page article on the tea party movement. Sounds promising at first – hey, the media actually noticed the tea parties! Audi raised eyebrows during the Super Bowl when they ran a commercial mocking the Green community. Pelosi lashes out at President

Nancy Pelosi had some harsh words for the President on the lack of jobs – even though the unemployment numbers dipped slightly. Pelosi told the President he was the worst since Herbert Hoover on jobs adding, “Job losses are taking a real toll on the financial security of American families” while noting that “while the national unemployment rate dropped slightly, it still stands at a near record high.” Only one problem: these were Pelosi’s words to President Bush in 2003. Glenn slaughters Arianna Huffington…BUT

Just like the last time Glenn said it, this slaughter wasn’t a literal one. This time it was referring to the war of words and Glenn’s words absolutely slaughtered Arianna’s (not literally, Arianna). In perhaps one of the worst points brought up in the history of punditry, Huffington tried to accuse Glenn of inciting violence because he said the word ’slaughtered’ in a monologue on the economy. Socialists cheer recession

Air America loses bout with capitalism

It’s a sad day for the fives and tens of Americans that listened to the progressive radio network Air America. They declared bankruptcy in a press release that also explained why they folded. It was simple, “Our company cannot escape the laws of economics.” That was a more diplomatic way of saying, “Our programming was complete crap, plus the DNC was done using us.” Glenn delivers a moving eulogy for the now (and always) lifeless network. Media 71% positive on Reid’s ‘negro’ comment

The media somehow found a way to defend Harry Reid after it was revealed that he thought Obama was electable because he was ‘light skinned’ and did not possess a ‘negro’ dialect. Those on the left will often peer deep into the hearts of comments from those on the right to deem them racist. BUT when one of their own is caught saying, essentially, that dark skinned people and those with ‘negro’ dialect (whatever that is) are unelectable, the comments are defended. Obama tax flip flop

President Obama sure sounded like he was for the everyman on the campaign trail when he pledged ‘no taxes’ on 95% of working Americans. Of course, he doesn’t seem to count indirect taxation as a tax. For example, when he breaks his promise and decides to go through with a tax on so called Cadillac insurance plans, that is a tax on millions of Americans. And contrary to popular belief, subscribing to a Cadillac plan doesn’t necessarily mean you are a fat cat millionaire. Healthcare a right?

It hasn’t ever been a right in the Constitution, but that’s not stopping our fearless senator from declaring it one. According to Senator Tom Harkin, this healthcare bill will go against the will of the founders:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Oops—I didn’t mean to shout, I forget that a lot of people may have done a bit of celebrating last night. That’s something I don’t have to worry about anymore, but during my old “celebratory” days, I more than paid my morning-after dues.

Enough of all that – it’s out with the old and in with the new – congratulate yourself, you finally polished off all the Thanksgiving leftovers, found a new burial site for this year’s Christmas fruitcake from your Aunt Betsy, and made it to the other side of the big New Year’s Eve countdown. It’s the end of the first decade of the new millennium, and you’re here to tell the tale. I don’t have to tell you that it’s been a rough 10 years, but I believe that things will only get better. And you know what that means, facing the reality of some of those “resolutions” you kept toasting to last night. I did the same thing (who says you can’t “toast” with hot cocoa?) but I fear that I could celebrate this New Year, the Jewish New Year, the Chinese New Year, the Mayan New Year and whatever other calendar you feel like tossing in and I still wouldn’t get to all the resolutions I made. New Year’s resolutions are like going grocery shopping when you’re hungry—you always end up filling your cart with more than you can eat.

To give you an idea, here are just a few of this year’s resolutions:

I will not let President Obama’s power-mad dismantling of America make me crazy.

See, I know this one is going to be tough because just typing it again is making me crazy! I better move on, or one of my organs might explode (and now that I’ve had my appendix taken out, it might be one of the organs I need). Here’s another one:

I will take better care of myself.

Of course, in order for that to happen, they will have to stop making Peanut M&M’s, and in this economy I can’t bear to let that happen. And as for exercise, Santa didn’t bring me my requested “25^th hour of the day,” so I don’t know when I’ll have time. I was thinking of hiring a new intern as my “exercise surrogate,” having them work out for me, but my doctors (and lawyers) still aren’t sure this will work. However, this last one I think I can accomplish:

I will turn every thought, feeling, idea, emotion, dream, memory, and waking moment into something you can listen to, watch, read, wear, or attend.

Okay, this is less an actual “resolution” and more “my job,” but let me tell you—I know what’s coming up this year and it’s going to be the best ever! You know we’ve been building toward something – with the TV and radio shows, Fusion magazine, the books, stage shows and simulcasts – and this year I’m taking things to that next level. 2010 is going to be BIG, and you’re going to play a huge part. And that’s one resolution I’ll have no trouble keeping: To do my best to bring you ideas and information that inform, entertain, and hopefully, inspire. I love my job, and I can’t wait to get back to work. It was an incredible 2009, but you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Dems attack Lieberman

It pays to be on the fence when it comes to the healthcare bill. Pelosi, Reid and the President desperately want to pass this ‘control America bill’ before they lose their majorities. If politicians need to be convinced, well, it’s anything goes in Washington D.C. to get it passed. Senator Mary Landrieu claimed to be on the fence — it was worth $300 million dollars to Obama to get her support. Now, Joe Lieberman is claiming not to support this bill in its current form. Gore up to old tricks

Al Gore has been telling tall tales about the Earth for quite some time. If you think Miami will be underwater in a couple of decades then you’ve been listening to Al Gore speak. Finally, his lies caught up with him after claiming the Arctic Ocean would be free of summer ice by as soon as 2014. The $300 million dollar woman

All it took was a lot of $$$ for Senator Mary Landrieu to lose any care or concern for the Constitution of the United States. When asked where the Constitution names healthcare as a right, Landrieu chuckled and said her lawyers would figure that one out. What Mary must have forgotten was that she swore an oath to defend the Constitution. And she doesn’t even know what’s in it? Time picked its person of the year and the winner is (drumroll) none other than Ben Bernanke. He’s been running the Federal Reserve since before the economic crisis began. Is he on the list to be scolded? No! That would make too much sense. Instead, we are supposed to thank him for losing 7 million jobs! ( Transcript, Insider Audio)

Hollywood simply cannot help themselves when it comes to doing anything they can to paint America as the bad guy. It’s a view expressed on the big screen time and time again – the latest example is a movie about an American soldier in Afghanistan. Healthcare Bill on life support?

Harry Reid is now in full retreat mode, tail between his legs, as he is now actually hiding the latest version of the Senate Healthcare bill. As U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell points out today, “The final bill we’ll vote on isn’t even the one we’ve had on the floor. It’s the deal Democrat leaders have been trying to work out in private” he said. It’s why they want to rush the bill before Christmas. Which makes perfect sense when looking at the plummeting poll numbers.

The 2500 page Omnibus bill is expected to pass this week, and it’s nothing more than yet another spending fiesta. I mean, people can argue that “Oh but Chuck and Couture got paid 6-figures for their fights” But you have to consider just HOW FEW fighters in the ufc get paid that much. Only a handfull, not even the champions of their lesser weight classes get paid 6 figures (maybe once or twice).

I have been a vocational rehabilitation counselor for over 18 years, but because I have only a Bachelor of Science degree I am unable to work for the VA to provide these much needed services. Why is only one private company contracted to provide services? It would behoove the Obama administration to have real Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors working to get our veterans their much needed services in a more timely and consistent manner by hiring experienced and concerned counselors.

The media and airheads turned the issue into one where they blamed Leno for everything. Leno hadn’t anything to do with Conan’s demise. Both shows had bad ratings. Conan’s ego would accept the NBC offer to begin the Tonight Show a half-hour later, because he threw a hissy-fit and pouted. Conan is the one that threw Leno under the bus. Not the other way around. As for Letterman, he picked up less than a half-million viewers. His ratings still aren’t at levels of what Leno’s were. Leno had the leading show for most of the years he was at the helm. I’ll go back and forth with Leno and Night Line, which is what I previously did during that time slot. I detested Letterman and never found him very humorous or entertaining.
