WASHINGTON - With much of his legislative agenda stalled in Congress, President Obama and his team are preparing an array of actions using his executive power to advance energy, environmental, fiscal and other domestic policy priorities.
Mr. Obama has not given up hope of progress on Capitol Hill, aides said, and has scheduled a session with Republican leaders on health care later this month. But in the aftermath of a special election in Massachusetts that cost Democrats unilateral control of the Senate, the White House is getting ready to act on its own in the face of partisan gridlock heading into the midterm campaign.
“We are reviewing a list of presidential executive orders and directives to get the job done across a front of issues,” said Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff.
Any president has vast authority to influence policy even without legislation, through executive orders, agency rule-making and administrative fiat. And Mr. Obama’s success this week in pressuring the Senate to confirm 27 nominations by threatening to use his recess appointment power demonstrated that executive authority can also be leveraged to force action by Congress.
Mr. Obama has already decided to create a bipartisan budget commission under his own authority after Congress refused to do so. His administration has signaled that it plans to use its discretion to soften enforcement of the ban on openly gay men and lesbians serving in the military, even as Congress considers repealing the law. And the Environmental Protection Agency is moving forward with possible regulations on heat-trapping gases blamed for climate change, while a bill to cap such emissions languishes in the Senate.

In an effort to demonstrate forward momentum, the White House is also drawing more attention to the sorts of actions taken regularly by cabinet departments without much fanfare. The White House heavily promoted an export initiative announced by Commerce Secretary Gary Locke last week and nearly $1 billion in health care technology grants announced on Friday by Kathleen Sebelius, the health and human services secretary, and Hilda L. Solis, the labor secretary.
White House officials said the increased focus on executive authority reflected a natural evolution from the first year to the second year of any presidency. “The challenges we had to address in 2009 ensured that the center of action would be in Congress,” said Dan Pfeiffer, the White House communications director. “In 2010, executive actions will also play a key role in advancing the agenda.”
The use of executive authority during times of legislative inertia is hardly new; former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush turned to such powers at various moments in their presidencies, and Mr. Emanuel was in the thick of carrying out the strategy during his days as a top official in the Clinton White House.
But Mr. Obama has to be careful how he proceeds because he has been critical of both Mr. Clinton’s penchant for expending presidential capital on small-bore initiatives, like school uniforms, and Mr. Bush’s expansive assertions of executive authority, like the secret program of wiretapping without warrants.
Already, Mr. Obama has had to reconcile his campaign-trail criticism of Mr. Bush for excessive use of so-called signing statements to bypass parts of legislation with his own use of such tactics. After a bipartisan furor in Congress last year, Mr. Obama stopped issuing such signing statements, but aides said last month that he still reserves the right to ignore sections of bills he considers unconstitutional if objections have been lodged previously by the executive branch.
Another drawback of the executive power strategy is that actions taken unilaterally by the executive branch may not be as enduring as decisions made through acts of Congress signed into law by a president. For instance, while the E.P.A. has been determined to have the authority to regulate carbon emissions, the administration would rather have a market-based system of pollution permits, called cap and trade, that requires legislation.
Still, presidents have logged significant accomplishments through the stroke of a pen. In 1996, on his own authority, Mr. Clinton turned a 2,600-square-mile section of southern Utah into the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, in what was called at the time his boldest environmental move. Mr. Bush followed suit in 2006 by designating a 140,000-square-mile stretch of islands and ocean near Hawaii as the largest protected marine reserve in the world, in what some see as his most lasting environmental achievement.

The use of executive power came to a head this week when Mr. Obama confronted Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, about nominations held up in the Senate. In a meeting with Congressional leaders at the White House on Tuesday, Mr. Obama turned to Mr. McConnell and vowed to use his power to appoint officials during Senate recesses if his nominations were not cleared.
By Thursday, the Senate had voted to confirm 27 of 63 nominations that had been held up, and the White House declared victory. Two administration officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Friday that the White House had drafted a list of about a dozen nominees for the president to appoint during the recess that just began, but most were among those cleared.
Mr. McConnell’s office denied that the president’s threat had anything to do with the confirmations, pointing out that the Senate regularly passes a batch of nominees before going on recess.
“All presidents get frustrated with the pace of nominations, and all Congresses say they’re doing their best, so it’s not a surprise,” said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Mr. McConnell. “But the fact is nominees are being confirmed, particularly those nominated since December.”
The recess appointment power stems from the days when lawmakers were in session only part of the year, but in modern times presidents have used it to circumvent opposition in the Senate. Mr. Clinton made 139 recess appointments, 95 of them to full-time positions, while Mr. Bush made 171, with 99 to full-time jobs. Mr. Obama has yet to make any.
Those given such appointments can serve until the end of the next Congressional session. As a senator, Mr. Obama was less enamored with recess appointments. When Mr. Bush used the power to install John R. Bolton as ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Obama called Mr. Bolton “damaged goods.”
But the White House argued that Mr. Obama’s choices have been held up more than Mr. Bush’s and left open the prospect of giving recess appointments to some of those still held up, including Craig Becker, a labor lawyer whose nomination for a seat on the National Labor Relations Board has been blocked.
“If the stalling tactics continue,” said Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, “he’s not ruling out using recess appointments for anybody that he’s nominated.” PETER BAKER

Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely! Will this be the Obama legacy? I asked myself, What do socialists do? My mind was filled with images from history and a decoupage of impressions from leading socialists across the globe.
One thing stuck in my mind, socialist leaders are seldom satisfied with limited power. Like a drug, power bends the mind and corrodes the conscience. The agenda of the ‘greater good for the greatest number’ is the driving force in the mind of the socialist. Their plan of helping mankind becomes an amoral mantra of anything goes as long as the social objective is secured.
I hope and pray this is not the track Mr. Obama is running on, if it is, our beloved nation is facing some very unpleasant consequences and possibly historic social convulsions along the way. Which begs the question: Now that the American people have said ‘NO’ to Mr. Obama’s plans, what will be his reaction?
For the life of me, I hope it is to get in step with the will of the people. We have all heard, Democrats are for Democracy, therefore, all Democrats should be rejoicing, for the people have spoken! However, somewhere in the back of my mind I think this is not the path Mr. Obama chooses to walk.
This leaves us with a powerful question which cannot be lightly answered: Can a President be impeached and then removed from office if he abuses his Executive Power in an extremely egregious manner?
I hope we don’t find out.

There are so many different fronts that we in the tea party movement must fight to take our country back.
Frequently, we at the Tea Party Express have focused on the “big picture” if you will: raising money for political campaigns – to support the “good guys” or defeat the “bad guys,” TV and radio ad campaigns on key issues of the day, organizing mass rallies, spearheading petition campaigns and email/letter/phone call/fax campaigns to key Members of Congress, news conferences, press releases to the media, etc…
But there is much more that needs to be done. Thankfully there are some great patriots who are helping to organize a national effort to provide tea party supporters such as yourself a fantastic opportunity to really change the way politics work – and ensure that constitutional conservatives are involved in the decision making process of the major political parties.
If you live in California, both of the following two action items require your attention.
If you live anywhere else in the nation, pay attention just to Action Item #1.
** ACTION ITEM #1 ** (Nationwide): The National Precinct Alliance has been steadily building a network to give tea party supporters and conservative constitutionalists the chance to help take back the major political parties. It involves a grass roots effort at the ground level – to ensure that good people such as yourself can help us take back the political parties by getting involved specifically at the precinct level.
As the National Precinct Alliance explains:
The candidates, democrat and republican, who win public office will almost always be the candidate endorsed by the local PARTY LEADERS. One of those two candidates, either the republican or the democrat, will be elected in November, and go to Congress to make the laws, and determine much of our country’s future. This is very obvious to most Americans. What is not obvious is what is happening at the grassroots level. Every two years there is an election most Americans are not aware of… the election of our Precinct Executives. The Precinct Executives elect the Party Leaders and the Party Leaders endorse the candidates for office. Hence, the only way Americans can fire the current local county Party Leaders is through the Precinct System by electing like-minded Precinct Executives.

** ACTION ITEM #1 ** (California Only): In California an important deadline is coming up – tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16th. The deadline is for applications to the first-ever Citizens Redistricting Committee.
Because of a voter-approved initiative, private citizens such as yourself can apply to serve on the state’s redistricting commission, where the lines are drawn for legislative districts throughout the state.
We are all now well aware of the famous – infamous – examples of district lines being drawn for a congressional or legistlative seat that are ridiculously shaped. They are designed solely to get blocs of voters into one district, to help ensure that the incumbent politicians – in this case now dominated by liberals – can keep their seats and hold on to power.
But not anymore!
Not, at least, if California patriots such as yourself will please, please, please apply to serve on the California Citizens Redistricting Committee.

I am sending an alarm to the Tea Party membership! Be alert to turncoats and deceivers being herded into the Tea Party by usurpers from the weakened Republican Party for the sole purpose of capturing our populist movement. Our political ideals were once theirs and our immense growth has created a lusting for their good old days!
Sarah Palin’s well delivered speech and her attractive demeanor is little more than a veneer for her less attractive political philosophy. She seems more like a duck out of water among true Conservative Constitutionalists. Palin demonstrates her NeoCon flippant viewpoint and her naivete as she seems envious of the swelled numbers of Patriots pledging their allegiance, to of all things, AMERICA and not a to kool-aid ridden political dinosaur.
What Republican wouldn’t want 10 million angry voters marching in the streets shouting, God Bless The Republican Party, where a few months before the same voices sang, God Bless America!
Sarah Palin is not dense or erroneous in her view of the Tea Party, just the opposite. She represents a growing insider’s attack to the heart of the Tea Party. Very much like a wolf in sheep’s clothing entering in at the gate as an ally, but for all intents and purposes there to seize and capture, not only one or two stray sheep, but the whole flock!
Instead of the Republican Party endeavoring to return to what made them great, it appears they are trying to take the low road, by attempting to commandeer someone else’s dream, the American dream forged by blood sweat and tears. Is the Faith of the Tea Party being replaced by folly and our Patriotism being replaced by Party-ism?
However, what the Republicans can not fathom is the inspiration of the Tea Party, a simple common thread, one which is missing from the fabric of their political wardrobe.
The common thread running the length and breadth of this movement is a Common Sense Constitutional Conservative approach to self-governance. However, danger is magnified simply because of the spontaneous nature of the Tea Party. The Tea Party, by some, is viewed as easy prey for the filling of their donation coffers and vote gathering machines. The only divisive aspect of the Tea Party is to be rid if the political machine that erodes the fabric of our Patriotic soul.
When Patriots zeal is bursting out of the seams, caution is often overlooked and a politically lackadaisical attitude creeps in. Such is the emerging case with recent events by those who declare themselves as the Tea Party privileged, but who in reality are nothing more than kool-aid drinking Republicans in Sheep’s clothing.
Many Tea Party members are concerned with the complicity of Big Business and Big Government, Wall Street Bail-outs and Mortgage Mogul sweet-heart deals. My concern grows as I observe the open and deliberate adulteration of the U.S. Constitution by those who proudly boast their allegiance to “Party” principles. The difference is startling, the Tea Party places restoring the Republic and returning America to common sense government as our core platform.
However, what I am witnessing is an attempted defilement of the concept of what the Tea Party’s purposes are and where we are going. The bastardization of our message I find bilious and disingenuous on its face.
Tea Party members are being eyed as just another piece of voting meat. Tea Party members are targeted for filling the rank and file of minion laden political operations, most of which are lead by failed Republican hacks.
Some are saying NO Way! Yet, who is objecting to high ranking Republicans trying to grab the Tea Party and call it their own? Do I hear voices shouting NO, NO Stop! This is our party?
Has the Tea Party become so impotent that we can not see how millions of Tea Party members are being lead down a slippery slope into the abyss of political complacency?
Are the ears being trained to adore the mindless blither which drools from the sweet tongues of the politically anointed?
Has the Tea Party reached its zenith? Was all of our work, hope and fire expended to only stop Obama-Care? Has our message become so contaminated and ineffective as to be mistaken for the same old political clap-trap vomited from the kool-aid drinking mouths of the Republican elite? Shall the Tea Party be lead down the primrose path of numb contentment like so many other movements and organizations have been over the years?
I can see the possible evisceration of the Tea Party by recent shifts in ideology. For example: Would the Tea Party knowingly endorse a candidate who believes in Amnesty masquerading as a “pathway to citizenship”?
Of course not! However, it is being considered!
What shall we do next? Turn a blind eye to the 20 million or more illegal aliens who demand citizenship because they believe they have earned it by nefariously entering our beloved nation and who continue to break the law by staying here?
The Republican elite say “Yes to amnesty!” But, I believe the Tea Party will not reward law breakers, especially with our most sacred commodity - “Citizenship in our beloved nation.”
Yet, Sarah Palin says, “Yes we can!” Proving my point is her endorsement of Open-Borders McCain. Why would any Tea Party member “want to be” on the same side of Obama-Amnesty?
Point well taken.
Has the Tea Party forgotten the tax hikes poised and ready to crush the American people? How can we fail to remember the unrelenting line of gun grabbing legislation continually snaking its way through Congress?
Yet, where is the outrage?
NO and HELL NO!
Is the fire of the Tea Party quenched because the members have heard a pleasing speech and seen a pretty face? Is the Tea Party merely made-of cardboard signs and baseball caps?
I say NO and HELL NO! We are non-negotiable in our stand against dumbed down politics spun by deadhead Republican political hacks dreaming of emasculating the greatest thing going since 1773.
I say NO and HELL NO! We are non-negotiable in our stand for protecting jobs!
Yet, High ranking Republicans, including Sarah Palin endorse Governor Rick Perry knowing full well he was instrumental in the creation of the Transnational Corridor fiasco. A government plan which would have ripped through the heartland of America, destroying domestic jobs and wrenching family owned farms from the hands of families who have worked those farms for generations.
The infusion of ANY formal political party into the Tea Party movement will corrupt the very fiber of what the Tea Party is and what we stand for. The need for fresh voters and fresh blood is no less a drug to certain Republican “NeoCons” than crack is to an addict.
Don’t get me wrong, many of the Tea Party members are registered Republicans who were disillusioned by the failure of their party to hold to time tested conservative principles. They won’t be so easily convinced to return to a failed party simply because of a new paint job and a fresh covering of veneer.
The ongoing attempt of a stealth and silent seizure begins to take shape, begging a burning question: Does the Tea Party still resemble the one I envisioned years ago?
I witnessed the exhilaration of millions of people speaking out about the collapse of our financial system and the subversion of power was a catalyst for our protest. These same members, for once in their lives, felt they had ownership in this beloved nation.
The Tea Party is famous as a movement of ragtag, unorganized independent, politically hungry libertarian style Patriots holding fast to a Conservative belief in America. The Tea Party is something fresh, unique and alive.
Did our march on Washington with over 1 million strong, Town Hall meetings in major cities and millions of Pink Slips with tens of Millions of Tea Bags, countless E-mails, and phone calls to our elected Representatives mean nothing?
Shall the Tea Party slide into the abyss of political boredom?
I say NO! and HELL NO! The Tea Party must cling to our Common Sense - Constitutional Conservative approach to Self-Governance, making everything else non- negotiable!
Shall we go silently into the night or stand and fight?
Therefore, I am calling on all Tea Party members to cling fast to our core beliefs and tell the world: What we believe is non-negotiable.

Governor Sarah Palin was the keynote speaker tonight at the conclusion of the Tea Party Convention held in Nashville, TN. We have the links to watch her speech later in this email, so keep reading!
A note of clarification: We here at the Tea Party Express did not organize this event, another organization – Tea Party Nation – put on the convention. Some of you wrote in to us asking about ticket prices, etc… but we weren’t involved in any of that planning.
We were proud, howver, to send our Grassroots & Coalitions Director, Amy Kremer, to meet other tea party activists and discuss plans for the future of this movement – and how we can best bring about the change we all are fighting for. Amy was also asked to speak on a panel advising tea party activists on how to work using online social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook, NING, etc…), emails, websites, Action Alerts, and more - so that people can connect with one another and take action.

Fox News and CNN have both reported on the big news – Gov. Sarah Palin is going to come to Searchlight, NV to join all of us at the big Tea Party Express III kickoff rally. You’ll be pumped watching the news reports here:
The rally (and another Tea Party Express rally in Boston, MA on April 14th) will be free and open to the public. Palin is doing this effort ‘for free’ and without compensation. She has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Tea Party movement since its inception and tried to make her schedule work to join us on our previous Tea Party Express tours. We are honored to have her attending what will be such a huge and historic event.
This development certainly raises the stakes in our efforts to “Defeat Harry Reid” and it increases the importance of our Tea Party Express III: Just Vote Them Out effort.

USA Today this week ran a story headlined “Harry Reid in Big Trouble in Nevada Race” – and cited your efforts in contributing towards his increased political vulnerability. We have complete details below.
The last 10 days have been busy for us here at the Tea Party Express. And one thing we learned to appreciate early on: this is a team effort, and our movement has thrived because of the combined efforts of each of you.
Please read this entire email – set aside time later if you have to – because I think you will be truly inspired when you see how your efforts have made such a huge difference in the fight for our country’s future.
We want to thank and congratulate you all for outstanding work these past 10 days, as your efforts have allowed us at the Tea Party Express to take after Sen. Majority Harry Reid in Nevada (and helped to send his poll numbers plunging further), and helped play a role in the election of Scott Brown for U.S. Senate.
It is my pleasure to provide you a recap of some of the media coverage, videos and reports our first effort, the “Defeat Harry Reid” campaign received – so you can see for yourself the impact you are making by working together with others involved in this movement. In the next email you receive from the Tea Party Express, my colleague Amy Kremer, will send you a similar report on all that happened in the fantastic Scott Brown for Senate victory.

We announced that we would be conducting the 2nd wave of our “Defeat Harry Reid” campaign back at the end of December. We needed time to prepare, and to build awareness and momentum for the effort. We launched a fundraising drive to put up a new round of our TV ads in response to a heavy run of TV ads that Sen. Reid had aired to prop up his poor poll numbers.
We here at the Tea Party Express take the campaign to defeat Senator Reid very seriously. Thanks to your contributions we have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars running TV ads against Reid – more than any other organization we are aware of. We have also held rallies opposing Reid in these Nevada cities: Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, Henderson, Sparks, Fallon, Elko, Winnemucca, Ely, Tonopah and Hawthorne.
What – you mean to tell us that you haven’t heard of alot of those cities in Nevada before? Don’t worry, neither has Harry Reid, and that’s part of the reason he is especially vulnerable in this election cycle.
Now back to the ad campaign. It is important to us to make sure that any time Harry Reid tries to re-write history, or distract voters from his failed record, that we come right back and remind people of what Harry Reid is all about.
So after he had run all these warm fuzzy ads (which you can see – HERE), we produced a TV ad that would rebut Reid. And we decided the most effective strategy would be to simply remind Nevada voters who Reid really is by playing his own words back. Watch the ad we produced and ran on Nevada TV stations here:
The effort caught the attention of Fox News which ran this report:
So the word was out about our efforts and we were busy at work.
We contacted supporters all across Nevada and alerted them to our upcoming campaign against Reid. We invited many of them to come to our 2 news conferences (one on Monday, January 11th in Reno and the second one on Tuesday, January 12th in Las Vegas) where we kicked off the ad campaign.
We wanted to be sure that we had the news conference rooms filled with supporters. The Tea Party movement has been largely defined by big rallies with lots of energetic and enthusiastic people fighting to take their country back. And here’s what it looked like in Las Vegas:
Having a stodgy news conference where it was just our team speaking to a bank of cameras and reporters wasn’t the right fit. So that’s why we needed to get the word out. And we had a lot of help. The local tea party activists organized online. You can see their MeetUp report on the effort – HERE.
We also got great support from the gang at the Western Representation PAC. They’ve got a great Facebook Group called “The Campaign to Defeat Harry Reid” which you can join online – HERE.
And there were so many others from ResistNet, to the local 9/12 groups, Free Republic, Ron Paul supporters, Libertarians, candidates for U.S. Senate, candidates for House of Representatives, candidates for Governor, Republican Central Committee Members, Republican Women Federated groups, and more. All these people banding together with the Tea Party Express in the fight to take on Harry Reid. It was fantastic!
We put out news to the press about this effort early, and did so in a series of news releases that used a variety of “hooks” to build press interest for our effort. You can see one of the many news releases we put out – HERE.
We also further enticed the media to come by inviting the leading candidates for Senate who are challenging Reid in Nevada. And they came. Five of them in fact, including the three candidates who are currently polling strongest: Sharron Angles, Sue Lowden and Danny Tarkanian.
As the launch dates neared word came back from our supporters. They told us in email after email and in a flood of phone calls that they would be there at the news conferences, and they kept their word.
Both news conferences were packed with supporters. Listen to the reaction of the enthusiastic crowd as Tea Party Express representative William Owens addressed the crowd and took on MSNBC’s Chris Matthews & Harry Reid for his “light skinned” and “negro” comments – you’re going to love the energy in the room:
That was a pretty impressive speech by William Owens, and given that it came on the very day that the news media was reporting on Reid’s racist statements (as documented in the book “Game Change”) it was a powerful moment in the media as well - a patriotic black tea party activist speaking Truth to Power against the once formidable Harry Reid.
The press coverage was fantastic. On many TV news stations and News/Talk radio stations it was one of the top stories, if not THE top story. Here’s the ABC television affiliate’s report from Las Vegas:

When we launched the ad campaign we purchased time on the network affiliates in Las Vegas, Reno and Elko (ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX). We bought ads on the cable news channels throughout the state (CNN, Fox News, Headline News, CNBC). We bought ads on the Independent TV station in Pahrump. We bought ads statewide on all the runs of the “Nevada Newsmakers” political news show.
In short, we made a big push, and the media took our efforts seriously. We’re pleased to provide excerpts of more media reports from our campaign against Reid.

This Special Election will fill the seat of the late Senator Ted Kennedy.
Initially, pundits expected an easy win for the liberal Democrat candidate, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley.
But new polls out this Tuesday showed the race has narrowed to a 9-point margin! And Election Day is just 12 days away!
Republican Scott Brown opposes the government-run healthcare plan now being debated by Congress. He launched his campaign on the platform of lower taxes and reduced government spending.
He has earned the support of many within the Tea Party movement, and we here at the Tea Party Express want to deliver that message to the people of Massachusetts.
With polls showing the Tea Party movement more popular than either the Democrat or Republican ads, we here at the Tea Party Express want to run positive ads announcing our support for Brown’s candidacy.

Majority Leader Harry Reid has amassed over $8.7 MILLION in his campaign for re-election this year. And that amount was as of September 30, 2009 – you can bet the tally is much higher by now.

When I heard Rick Santelli on the CNBC business network have his rant and call for a tea party to protest the Obama bailout bill, I knew it was time to get organized and fight against a President who was determined to take care of the big corporations and his liberal friends instead of mainstream Americans who do the productive and volunteer work that makes our country so great.
That led our political action committee, Our Country Deserves Better PAC, to start the Tea Party Express as a vehicle to get Americans involved in protesting the efforts by our new President and liberal Congress to grow the federal government to intrude further in our lives.
We kept our goals straight-forward and consistent with a majority of Americans:
- End the Bailouts
- Reduce the Size and Intrusiveness of Government
- Stop the Out of Control Spending
- No Government Run Heathcare
- Stop Raising our Taxes
We have now done two national bus tours and the huge rally in Washington DC with over a million people participating. And, we already are planning on two more tours in 2010 – the first one beginning in Searchlight, Nevada on March 27th and travelling across country to Washington, DC for another big protest rally on April 15th Tax Day.
One of the great things about these tours is getting to meet so many wonderful Americans who share our concern over the direction of our country. People have turned out by the thousands, many with hand-made signs.
That sparked an idea that others who couldn’t join our tour rallies would enjoy seeing some of the people and signs that were displayed at our events. So we put together this fabulous 2010 calendar with over 100 color photographs from each of the rally locations on Tea Party Express II.

Pink-slipping Congress wipes out paper supplies

WASHINGTON – For a second time, the supplies of pink paper have been wiped out across North America by a true grass-roots campaign to send pink slips to members of Congress, warning them against support for the health-care takeover, big spending, hate-crimes legislation and energy taxes.
WND got notification yesterday of the shortage – which already is being resolved – from the printer of pink slips that have been streaming into Capitol Hill by the millions. The latest count was more than 8 million. “The WND pink slip campaign has wiped out ALL Hammermill pink paper supplies in North America,” said a campaign official. “All pink paper resources throughout the country were pooled to ship to our printer for production of pink slips. “Other than small quantities already in stock at print shops and retail outlets, no other pink paper is available for purchase since it is currently on backorder,” the official continued. “Hammermill’s mills are ramping up to manufacture more pink paper, ALL designated for WND.” The campaign, however, had stockpiled enough paper for the most recent deluge of pink slips, and the new manufacturing efforts are expected in time to meet the next surge, officials confirmed. “We’ll go outside the U.S., if necessary,” to get enough supplies, said Joseph Farah, founder and CEO of WND. Farah, who organized the campaign with WND columnist Janet Porter, says the campaign has been picking up since a half-dozen members of Congress held a press conference recently to announce their support of the effort – an event that was covered widely by television and print reporters. Reps. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., Steve King, R-Iowa, Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., and Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, held a press conference with Farah and Porter outside the Capitol. The lawmakers praised the program and said it is producing results – changing the minds of some members who were backing House and Senate leadership initiatives and bolstering the conviction of those who oppose them.
“It’s an amazing feat, to get that many slips to Congress,” Rep. Steven King, R-Iowa, told WND. “If you look through them, you can index each one back to an individual. That’s powerful. There is a person behind each one of the slips.”
In addition, Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., was interviewed about the campaign by Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren. “This is putting everyone on notice,” he said. “And I think this is what the American people have been doing for months now, saying if you keep spending and borrowing, you’re going to get fired.” The most recent paper shortage was the second occurrence. In the first week of the campaign, paper suppliers reported the campaign had completely tapped the nation’s reserves of 8.5 x 11 inch pink paper. As the last full pallet of pink paper was delivered to the printer, new supplies had to be ordered and manufactured. The “Send Congress a Pink Slip” campaign ensures that a brief but poignant message will be delivered by Fed Ex to all 535 members of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate – all for a remarkably low price based on economies of scale.
The “Send Congress a Pink Slip” campaign has been coordinated by Joseph Farah, founder and CEO of WND. “Our goal from the beginning was to generate 5 million of these notices,” said Farah. “But it now appears we might just be getting started.” “One of the questions I get from colleagues is why a news agency would involve itself in a political advocacy campaign like the ‘pink slips’ effort. The answer is that I am an American first and a newsman second. I don’t want to see the foundations that made this country great and that made the notion of a free press possible destroyed. And that’s why we got behind this campaign,” he said. The program already has been the talk of Congress, albeit not always on the floor of the House or Senate. “They’re talking about it, but they’re only talking about it behind closed doors and in the elevators as they go up and down and in very whispered tones,” Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., has said. “Because, what you hear are people saying, ‘How many of those did you get or how many people came to your office today? And what are you going to do and how are you going to vote on this?’” Sen. DeMint told Porter on a recent radio show that some of the bills now pending in Congress already would have been law had it not been for the “pink slips” appearing in inboxes daily. The “pink slip” each official will get is a reminder that they work for the taxpayers. Each is individually printed with the sender’s contact information under the closing salutation “Signed, Your Employer:”  The warning lists four key issues that are deemed unacceptable to program participants:
“If you vote for any of these, your real pink slip will be issued in the next election,” it warns. “We encourage citizens to take individual actions,” said Farah. “But when we act as a group, it’s more cost-effective and the results more dramatic. Just try Fed Exing members of Congress yourself and see what it costs. We have learned from past experience that Fed Ex actually ensures delivery to members. What they do with them at that point is their choice.” The cost of each message translates to six cents per message – individually addressed for both the recipient and the sender and shipped by Fed Ex. The “Send Congress a Pink Slip” program permits participants to Fed Ex 535 individually addressed pink slips to each member of Congress, each one with the name and address of the sender for just $29.95. “I believe this campaign, already tremendously successful beyond my wildest expectations, can have a real impact on politicians whose first priority is getting re-elected,” says Farah. “I think this might be our last chance to give congressional Democrats something to think about before they destroy the country. It might be our last, best hope of stopping the madness.” Farah and Porter say the campaign will continue indefinitely. It is important that our Governors help us in this fight. The federal government is looking to make enormous cuts in medicare. The plans being discussed will require that states make up for these cuts. With the high unemployment rate of over 10% and the state of our economy it would be detremential to state governments. Governors need to know we don’t want the states to have to make up the difference, and we need their help in stopping this bill.

DELEGATION TO WASHINGTON!
We’ve tipped you off to the fact that we have a lot of big announcements to make, and here’s one more to add to the list (and there are many more to come in these next few days).
As you know, last week Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann put out the call to patriots across the country to head to Washington, D.C. this Thursday, 12:00 Noon for a press conference and rally on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
Well, friends, we are answering her call! The goal: to defeat Nancy Pelosi’s government-run, socialistic healthcare plan.
During this time we’ve been collecting thousands upon thousands of letters at each of our Tea Party Express rallies across the nation.
Tomorrow we will be flying out two leaders of the Tea Party Express from the middle of our tour to Washington, D.C. with those letters – and they will be carrying your message to the politicians in D.C. Those two representatives will be the great tea party activist, Amy Kremer, and Tea Party Express Co-Chair, Deborah Johns.
Then on Friday, Mark Williams – our other Co-Chair of the Tea Party Express, will be flying out to Washington to follow up that effort – including an appearance on the nationally syndicated “America’s Morning News” radio program hosted by Melanie Morgan and John McCaslin.

MAJOR SUCCESS FOR 1st DAY LAUNCH OF TEA PARTY EXPRESS
(ON THE ROAD – BAKERSFIELD, CA) – The Tea Party Express II enjoyed an incredibly successful launch on its first day back on the road!
The national, cross-country Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day (www.TeaPartyExpress.org) launched Sunday from San Diego, where a crowd of thousands gathered for an energetic sendoff for the national tour. Later in the day a traffic jam occurred inside Griffith Park when an overflow of supporters filled beyond capacity the massive park’s various parking lots.
The crowds far surpassed the pro-Obama “Organizing for America” bus tours that advocated for government-run health care just over one month ago. And the irony in that is this: one of the two “Tea Party Express II” buses was used in the Organizing for America bus tour.
The Tea Party Express II is organizing opposition to the efforts by Congress to pass a health care bill with a government-run component, and those members of Congress who defy the will of the American people, and the best interests of this nation, are being put on notice: one year from now we the voters will be handing you a ‘pink slip.’ Hence, the tag line, “Countdown to Judgment Day.”
The Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day national tour will span 19 days, with rallies in 38 cities, and will cover more than 7,000 miles. The tour marks the one-year point from the 2010 elections when numerous members of Congress will be targeted for defeat, as a result of their support of higher deficits, growth in the size and intrusiveness of government, higher taxes, bailouts and more.

Kickoff Rally a Huge Success!
Hi everyone! We’ve now launched the Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day with a giant rally in San Diego. It was incredible!! The crowd was huge – numbering in the thousands! The sun was shining on this naval town with our rally on the water and the U.S.S. Midway serving as the backdrop. Sorry Keith Olbermann and any critics of the Tea Party Express – but “We The People” came together in San Diego today and our voice was heard!
I can’t begin to tell you how exciting the event was and how meaningful it was for all of us. If you were there you know the energy that radiated through the crowd.
The speakers at the rally were great – including nationally syndicated radio talk show host, Roger Hedgecock and California conservative hero, Chuck DeVore, who is challenging Barbara Boxer for Congress. The musical performers were great. It just doesn’t get any better than this.

The Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day national tour will span 19 days, rallies in 38 cities, and cover more than 7,000 miles. The tour marks the one-year point from the 2010 elections when numerous members of Congress will be targeted for defeat, as a result of their support of higher deficits, growth in the size and intrusiveness of government, higher taxes, bailouts and more.
Momentum for the Tea Party Express II launch has grown during the past week as word spreads like wildfire of a conservative groundswell too large to be ignored. “The tea party movement was written off earlier this year as a flash in the pan, but nothing could be further from the truth. Americans are taking action to take their government back from the failed and corrupt politicians who are bankrupting our nation,” said Deborah Johns, Vice Chair of the Tea Party Express – and one of the featured speakers on the tour.
The Tea Party Express II will begin in San Diego, and is happy to announce that former Mayor Roger Hedgecock of AM 600 – KOGO, will serve as a featured keynote speaker at the rally. Other featured speakers will include Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, Ventura County Supervisor Peter Foy, and Our Country Deserves Better Chairman Howard Kaloogian.
